Show Notes:
In this episode, we take a break from any ACL-related content. We take a moment for 5/24/22 and UVALDE. For 21 human beings – 2 teachers and 19 elementary school children. For hurting families and friends, for a community to show our support.
What’s up guys? If you are new joining us today, you’re probably wondering what is this episode about. What is this title? And if you are around anything that has happened in the past couple of days, this is being recorded on May 26th, which is two days after the Uvalde, Texas shooting, which is today’s episode. We are taking a break from any ACL-related content.
Today, we take a moment for Uvalde. And for those of you who do not know, this happened on May 24th, which was two days ago. And we take this moment for 21 human beings, for two teachers and 19 elementary school children, for their families, for their friends, for their community. This is something that hits incredibly close to me and home because my wife, Abigail, is a school teacher. And so this just had a different meaning to it. Sure, there’s a lot of things that happen in this world, but this one just hit really close to home.
And I believe social media does exist for many reasons. I’m sure we bring you all this ACL stuff. But some of those reasons are for creating awareness and for positive change in the world and to provide support for our communities and our people. And while I would love to talk to you about healthcare and ACL rehab, today is much bigger than that. And the goal of this company and why I started the ACL athlete and this team and our mission is to stand for things we believe in and support the people in our communities.
Today, the ACL athlete and our team will be donating to support the victims and families of Uvalde and gun control. Now, politics aside, there is something that can be done here and that can change for the better. And that’s what we’re hoping to see. And I think it’s easy for this to just pass by and for us to turn the other way and not really feel anything from it. But 21 people went to school on May 24th and they didn’t go home. And then before that, 10 people went to a supermarket and never went home. This is a pattern that we’ve seen and has been going on. And people should not be worried about sending their kids to school, going to the local supermarket, or going to church. I shouldn’t have to worry about my wife going to work, but that’s not the case. And we can help to do something about it.
I’ll share some of the ways that we’re going to support. We’ll put some links in the show notes for ways that you can do it as well if you’d like to. But today just didn’t feel right to just go on as usual to post-ACL-related content and to talk about ACL stuff.
This is what you guys are getting today. If you showed up for ACL-related stuff, I apologize but tune in next week and we’ll kick it back up. But this week is just a moment for what is going on in our world. And I think it’s important to pause and respect that.
As I sign off, hug your people close, and we will see you next week.
